Home!

I am saving time by cutting and pasting from our Carepages.com updates:

We are extremely happy to report that surgery went well today and that we are now home spending the night in our own beds! Gracie was such a trooper today and we are so proud of how brave and strong she was. By the time Gracie went back for surgery she hadn't eaten for 20 hours and was long overdue for a nap, and still our G held up amazingly well. It is never easy to hand your baby over for surgery. However, knowing that getting this wire out would make Gracie so much more comfortable and that we were in the thoughts and prayers of so many made things a little easier for us. It was also very comforting to us that we saw over a dozen different doctors and nurses today who all remembered Gracie from when she was a baby and were genuinely concerned and interested in how she is doing.

Recovery at this point for Gracie is pretty straight forward. She'll need some extra rest these next couple of days and we will be watching her closely for any signs of infection. If infection is going to be a problem it will usually show up within 5 to 10 days after surgery. So we have our fingers crossed that there will be no infection this time! Before all of this happened we booked a trip to Hawaii to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary and we are optimistic that by then Gracie will be fully recovered and ready to don a grass skirt.

I've added several pictures of us keeping our sweet girl entertained throughout the day. Thank you again for your kind thoughts and prayers!

Kisses from mama waiting to go back to surgery center.

Blowing bubbles with daddy before surgery.

Snuggled up with daddy in her hospital gown, reading Gracie's favorite book "Is there a Gorilla in the Band?"

Watching Sesame Street on the Ipad waiting for anesthesia.

One very relieved mama that surgery went so smoothly and that we are heading home soon!!
